Manchester City Council is inviting expressions of interest for Black History Month 2026. The Equity and Engagement Team are seeking creative, community-led proposals that celebrate Black history, culture, creativity and community in Manchester, with young people placed at the heart of the project.
Proposals are invited from organisations, artists, practitioners, creative collectives and community groups that can work with young people and wider communities to explore identity, belonging, heritage, contribution, creativity and future aspirations.
The project should align to the official Black History Month 2026 theme, “Honouring Our Communities”, by celebrating the histories, contributions, creativity and lived experiences of African, Caribbean and wider diaspora communities in Manchester.
The project’s aim is to create opportunities for young people to explore the theme in ways that feel relevant to them, whilst also encouraging wider community connection, shared learning and creative expression.
Budget: up to £5,000 (inclusive of all fees, materials, travel, delivery and access costs to ensure participation)
Timescales: Project activity and outputs will take place between October 2026 and January 2027
