St John Ambulance has developed a new programme called Health Citizens to engage young people in responding to the issues they find within their communities. The programme is made up of 3 modules which are designed to help them develop the skills they will need to create their own piece of social action that is related to a health or social care need.
- The Self – understanding the skills they have to help bring about change
- Leading Others – developing skills in teamwork, leadership and conflict resolution to help them work with others as they develop and deliver their social action plan
- Health and Social Action – helping young people to explore health and social care issues and how to develop a piece of social action to support an issue of their choice
The young people will complete these modules as part of a face to face 2-day course (non-residential) where they will make new friends, boost their CV and have fun.
5 - 6 November at St John Ambulance, Faulkner House, Faulkner Street, Manchester (this may be delivered hybrid with online and one day of activities if the train strikes affect participation)
Or
12 - 13 November at St John Ambulance, St Andrew House, The Headrow, Leeds
Each day runs from 9am - 5pm and is fully funded by Standard Chartered so transport, food and activities will all be provided.
At the end of the 2 days the young people will work with a Coach from St John Ambulance to plan and deliver their social action project, helping to boost their communication, confidence and employability skills.
