Henshaws are recruiting for an Interim Chair of their Trustee Board

Henshaws is a well-established registered charity based in the North of England supporting people with sight loss or other disabilities to go beyond expectations, to live independent and fulfilling lives. Henshaws

In September 2016 the Board approved an ambitious strategic plan to grow its diverse range of services in a number of geographical areas and implement a digital strategy to enable a worldwide audience to benefit from the Charity’s expertise.

Henshaws is now looking for an experienced strategic leader to act as interim Chair for a period of 12 months, and lead the Charity on this exciting new stage of development of its mission. The Charity has significant potential for growth which requires the engagement of the staff and there is a Board keen to improve and learn.

Key objectives include:
1. To continue to ensure that the key charity and trustee risks are reviewed and appropriate action taken
2. To work together with the board and the executive to continue to develop the strong governance framework needed for the future
3. To put a process in place to recruit a permanent Chair

The Trustee Board seeks an individual with experience in the following areas:
Developing strategy
• Modern charity governance and leadership
• Board performance management

The person should be:
• enthusiastic and passionate about services for disabled people
• a good communicator with strong coaching abilities
• able to create the environment for a high performing board team
