Leading for Legacy is a fully funded civic and social leadership programme created for people from diverse backgrounds including Global Majority communities across Greater Manchester, who are ready to lead with purpose and create lasting impact.
What is Leading for Legacy?
This is not just another course. It is a hands-on leadership experience designed to build on your insight, skills and confidence to enable you to step into civic and public leadership roles in your community and beyond. It is about discovering or amplifying your voice, building both strategic and peer to peer networks and understanding how systems work so you can influence further.
Delivered by Flourish Together CIC and funded by the Greater Manchester Combined Authority, the programme is rooted in equitable access to opportunity and shaped by the lived experiences of our communities.
Who is it for?
Leading for Legacy is for diverse people of all genders, from Global Majority backgrounds, living or working in Greater Manchester who are passionate about civic and social leadership. Whether you are an activist, community builder, professional or emerging leader, this programme is for you if you want to deepen your impact and grow your influence in public life.
What you can expect
Across the programme you will:
- Join day long in person sessions and online gatherings designed to build leadership skills, civic literacy and confidence
- Explore how public bodies and civic systems work, and how leadership happens in real settings
- Develop practical skills in communication, decision making and community influence
- Connect with peers, mentors and established civic leaders
- Become part of an ongoing alumni network, opening doors to future opportunities and collaboration
Key dates and how to apply
Complete the expression of interest form here by 12pm on 30th April 2026.
The outlined programme dates are: 4th June, 2nd July, 10th September, 1st October, 5th November and 3rd December. It is mandatory for people selected for the programme to attend these full day in person events.
