Take up this year's Summer Reading Challenge for the chance to be entered into a prize draw!
The Summer Reading Challenge is the biggest annual reading promotion for children aged 4-11. Last year, children in Manchester read over 50,000 books. Manchester Libraries are ready for even more books to be borrowed from their libraries this year!
The Summer Reading Challenge is simple to do – just read six library books of your own choice and collect special stickers. You’ll be rewarded with a special medal and entered into our prize draw.
The Summer Reading Challenge launches on 2 July, and runs until 8 September. It will be supported by over 200 free activities in libraries during the school holidays.
Here’s a taste of the activities that have been planned:
• Motley Zoo have a whole host of comic capers in store! Inspired by much-loved comic characters, the ZooLab animals will be participating in all sorts of mischief, pranks, escapades and shenanigans as they descend upon their local village fete. What could possibly go wrong?!
• Boom, boom, boom! Everybody sing BEANO! African Drumming will be back with a bang!
• Can you spin a plate on a stick? Balance a feather on your finger? If you answered no to any of these questions then look out for Mischief Maker Tricks Workshop with The Circus House.
• Perhaps Yoga Up for summer? Mini yoga sessions are coming after all that mischief to bring inner calm and quiet
• Or look out for the ghastly Beano-inspired Make and Do Fun, including fake disgusting school dinners, disguises, pranks and Gnasher jaws and so much more
