A range of recent migration and asylum policy and proposals, including earned settlement and the family returns consultation, risk undermining migrant children and care leavers' rights and safety, and exposing them to poverty, destitution and/or homelessness.
This public letter is intended to highlight concerns about the cumulative threat to children's rights from these policies and call on Government to put the welfare and rights of children at the heart of all migration and asylum policy.
All children's charities, organisations and groups supporting children are invited to sign. Other organisations (including migrant and refugee organisations that aren't specifically child-focused) are also welcome to sign and are encouraged to share with any children's organisations in their networks.
Deadline for signatures: 8th April
The letter has been coordinated by Refugee and Migrant Children's Consortium (RMCC) and Asylum Matters.
