Spirit of Manchester - Media Partner Opportunity

Now in its 7th year, our Spirit of Manchester programme is an annual celebration of the work of the thousands of volunteers, community groups, charities, voluntary organisations and social enterprises in Manchester. Macc’s aim in running this programme is to raise the profile of the sector among the public to encourage local giving and active citizenship.

The highlight of the programme is the Spirit of Manchester Awards which take place in October. Over 350 people attend the event to celebrate the work of local volunteers, charities and community groups. Previous Awards supporters have included The University of Manchester, Virgin Trains and Lloyds Banking Group. Our awards evening is our most high profile event and trends locally and nationally on Twitter throughout the night. A short introduction film is available here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fPHIH-C6vWw&feature=youtu.be

Spirit of Manchester Business aims to nurture the relationship between the private and voluntary sectors, tackling local causes for the benefit of everyone in Manchester. The scheme is based around exchanging skills and knowledge people already have for the benefit of the community.

We also run a series of week-long campaigns, titled Spirit of Manchester Stories, which document the extraordinary everyday stories of our sector through short interviews publicised on social media. The theme in September is climate emergency, so we will be highlighting the stories of how groups are taking action to prevent environmental degradation.

Lastly, there is the Spirit of Manchester Fund – a fundraising campaign arising from all our other activities. The purpose of the Fund is to provide mini-grants to local voluntary and community groups, social enterprises or registered charities to help deliver projects which will improve the wellbeing of people who live, work or study in Manchester.

We are looking for a local media organisation to provide us with some pro-bono support as our Spirit of Manchester Media Partner for 2019. We are seeking someone who can help us with the following:
- Creating press releases about the programme, the awards and the winners, cultivating media interest in the Awards, the nominees and Macc.
- Attracting supporters for our 2019 programme
- Cultivating interest for future engagement with our Spirit of Manchester work

How much time and involvement you would like to have is something we can discuss.  Although we are looking for pro-bono support, we would want to be able to acknowledge your contribution in a range of ways including, for example:
- Being featured exclusively in our promotional materials as our Spirit of Manchester Media Partner
- 2 tickets for the Spirit of Manchester Awards (3rd October at the Sheridan Suite Manchester)
- Feedback from Macc on the support we receive which you may quote in your own materials

We are looking for one organisation to work with exclusively as our Media Partner. This is a great way for an agency with a strong track record in creative and engaging marketing and coms to support the brilliant work of local charities, volunteers and community groups in Manchester.

To express interest in being our 2019 Spirit of Manchester Media Partner, please send a short proposal including some background on your company, links to examples of your work and an outline of what you would offer as our Media Partner. This can be slides or a written proposal of no more than 500 words. Please email your proposal to [email protected] no later than 12noon on Friday 30th August 2019.
