talk listen changeTalk, Listen, Change has a new programme engaging with young people who use harm, this programme will run in several boroughs including Stockport, Manchester, Wigan and Salford; this programme is funded by the Home Office and so will be at no cost to the local authority, providers, or agencies.

The programme aims to develop positive relationships, coping mechanisms, safety plans and self-confidence with the eventual reduction of harm and violence for our client and those around them, giving our young people the right tools for a healthier and happier future. Talk, listen, change works holistically with both child/young people/parents/carers and families and would welcome the opportunity to collaborate for a safer future for the children of Greater Manchester.

The criteria for the programme:

  • The child or young person is aged 5-19 years old and has experienced/experiencing domestic abuse and is also using harm to others and/or self
  • The child must reside in Stockport, Manchester, Wigan or Salford

If a looked after child they must be looked after by Stockport, Manchester, Wigan or Salford

Talk, Listen, Change have councillors within their team and 5-13 year-olds will be placed exclusively on the counselling part of the service. Any young people aged 14-19 year-old will be placed on the CYP using harm sessional programme but can also have access to the counselling within it or if counselling is seen to be more suitable for them then they can be placed exclusively on the counselling programme.

It is worth noting that if Talk, Listen, Change feel an 11year old and above is suited for the CYP using harm project rather than the counselling then they can offer this service instead and this will be decided on a referral-by-referral basis.

Talk, Listen, Change are now accepting referrals for the CYP using harm project.

Talk, Listen, Change in addition to the CYP using harm project are also running an adolescent to parent/carer violence programme and will be accepting referrals for this is in the coming months.
