Carers Rights Day is on Thursday 21 November. There is a lot of activity taking place in Manchester to celebrate this annual day of raising awareness of carers’ rights.
Recognise your rights
As a carer, you have a right to request an assessment of your support needs and a right to be protected from discrimination. You have rights in work, like being able to request flexible working and a right to carer’s leave. You have specific rights when dealing with health services too. You have a right to ask your GP to be identified as a carer, which can help you access a free flu jab and potentially other public health campaigns. You have a right to be consulted when the person you care for comes home from hospital, to ensure that you are supported too...
