This new pilot scheme aims to provide support to 18-25-year-olds in Manchester, who have not approached services before for homeless support, but are insecurely housed and at risk of accommodation breakdown.
The service supports young people who are, but not limited to:
- Living in the family home not at imminent risk of homelessness, but it is not secure because of relationship breakdown or overcrowding
- Released from prison back to the family home
- Already in their own private rented tenancy but are at risk of eviction
The EEHS service is a community based service, within but not limited to Family and Early Help Hubs and Colleges across the Manchester City area.
What early help will the new service be able to offer?
- Support from accredited mediators to help keep the young person within the family home
- Housing advice
- Targeted tenancy support to prevent eviction/tenancy breakdown
- Support to tackle barriers in accessing mainstream and statutory services
What extra help will the new service be able to offer?
18-25-year-olds who meet the criteria will be able to access extra help including:
- Access to Centrepoint’s young-person specific Psychotherapy Service, which includes pre assessment for ADHD/autism, and specialist Art Therapy
- Access to the Jobs, Education and Training team including opportunities for volunteer work and work based apprenticeships
- Access to Centrepoint’s Rent Deposit Guaranteed Scheme, which can support a young person who is tenancy ready to look for accommodation
