BBC Children in Need's Small Grants programme and Main Grants Prograemmes are open to charities and not-for-profit organisations to apply to.
The BBC Children in Need focus firmly on children and young people experiencing disadvantage. BBC Children in Need fund organisations working to combat this disadvantage and to make a real difference to children and young people's lives.
Such disadvantage includes:
1. Illness, distress, abuse or neglect
2. Any kind of disability
3. Behavioural or psychological difficulties
4. Living in poverty or situations of deprivation
BBC Children in Need fund organisations working to combat this disadvantage and to make a real difference to children and young people's lives.
Who can apply?
BBC Children in Need funds not-for-profit organisations that work with disadvantaged children and young people of 18 years and under who live in the UK, the Isle of Man or the Channel Islands.
Applications from organisations that already have a BBC Children in Need grant are accepted providing the grant is coming to an end. You will need to be able to provide convincing evidence of the difference to children that your current grant has made.
Small grants
Applications can be for any amount up to £10,000 a year and BBC Children in Need are looking for projects where a relatively small grant can make a big difference for children and young people.
Deadlines for 2013: 1 April, 1 June, 1 September and 1 December

Main grants
There is no upper limit but very few grants over £100,000 are made and most grants are for much less. The total amount of money requested each year is far more than is available to give and requests for larger grants are always more competitive.
• Funding can be awarded for between one and three years, depending on the nature of the request. Grants can only be made for one year at a time for holidays/residentials.
• BBC Children in Need will consider funding support costs associated directly with a project, but cannot fund organisational overheads and running costs where these are not integral to the project you are applying for.
There is a two stage application process for the main grants programme. The first stage will be a short ‘expression of interest’ form, enabling them to give early feedback to all applicants, and inviting detailed applications from those projects which have a strong chance of receiving funding.
Deadlines for 2013: 15 May and 15 Sep
