The Equalities Team at Manchester City Council is currently in the process of refreshing the annual Communities of Interest (COI) report for 2013. Within the report it will include a chapter on Gender. It's essentially a summary of what's happening in Manchester in 2013 with regards to equality as well as issues that need to be highlighted.
The gender chapter from the last Communities of Interest Report (COI) report is attached to give you an idea of what has previously been included.
The Equalities Team need to collect research and relevant data/evidence to help illustrate the picture in Manchester around gender and they want to ensure that key issues are highlighted including issues for the trans community. There may be particular issues around health, education, domestic abuse, violence or hate crime, employment and the impact of welfare reforms that you might like to refer to. The Equalities Team will look at the census update to update and set the context.
The report should help to paint a picture of the issues, challenges, successes in the City and help to set future priorities and objectives, so any contribution you can make will be very important.
The chapter will highlight and summarise the information. If you do not have data based evidence then case studies are always helpful.
The chapters within the COI report also include disability, sexuality, age, religion and race but The Equalities Team need to ensure any specific issues related to women, men or the trans community are highlighted either within these chapters or in the gender chapter. Other colleagues are working on the other chapters and may contact you separately about those chapters. You do not need to send information twice.
The deadline to provide evidence is Thursday 7 November 2013, to Mary Meehan, at: [email protected]
