Spirit of Manchester Story is an opportunity to demonstrate the outstanding work done every day by the voluntary, community and social enterprise sector across Manchester.
Spirit of Manchester Story is a series of week-long campaigns, the first of which was held in September 2016, to document the extraordinary everyday stories of our sector. VCSE organisations are asked to choose one day during the week and record an activity which we capture via a short 10 minute phone interview on the day. We then publicise this information via our website and on social media using the hashtag #SpiritofMcrStory. The stories for each year can be accessed via the links for each day below.
In the week leading up to the Spirit of Manchester 2024, the Volunteer Centre is releasing daily volunteering stories on their social media to give a personal face to the people and organisations making our city a better, kinder place. Between the 24th - 27th of September, keep your eyes on the Volunteer Centre's Instagram (@volunteercentremanchester) and their Facebook (Volunteer Centre Manchester - Official) to see these stories as they are released. If you just can't wait, read the full booklet of stories below!

For Spirit Stories week July 2024, we went back to organisations who received a Spirit of Manchester grant in 2023, to find out how the funding helped them to continue the amazing work they do within Manchester's VCSE sector. You can read some examples of the stories from the organisations in the booklet below:
