Our Manchester Forum Membership recruitment advert - Voluntary Board Member Positions

In early 2016, Manchester agreed its shared vision outline in the Our Manchester strategy to be a world-class city, with residents who live longer, and are happier and wealthier. The Our Manchester Forum provides strategic leadership on the delivery of the city’s priorities, as set out in the Our Manchester strategy. The Forum is also responsible for ensuring that the new Our Manchester approach is embedded in all sectors of the city.

The year ahead will be crucial in shaping the future of our city beyond 2016. The leadership provided by the Our Manchester Forum is crucial in providing the strategic capacity to drive forward the delivery of our collective vision for Manchester’s future.

Over the past few months, Manchester City Council have reviewed the membership arrangements of the Forum to ensure that they have the right skills, expertise and capacity to enable them to deliver the 64 ‘We Wills’ contained within the Our Manchester strategy.

As such Manchester City Council are recruiting up to six new independent unpaid members to the Forum.

Manchester City Council are seeking applicants who:
• Will make a contribution to the Forum by representing communities, geographical areas and the diversity of the city
• Provide strategic leadership on the delivery of specific We Wills contained within the Manchester Strategy
• Have a passion for Manchester, with the motivation to show leadership in driving the delivery of the city’s priorities and in improving the quality of life for Manchester residents
• Demonstrate an understanding of the challenges and opportunities the city faces and an ability to respond with strategic thinking built around a shared vision
• Have the capacity to lead innovation and creative thinking for the benefit of the city and to act as an ambassador for Manchester
• Have a willingness to apply professional skills, knowledge and experience from a field of expertise to support the interests of the city as a whole
• Have the ability to promote transparency of dialogue and decision-making, collaboratively supporting the Forum’s ability to deliver
• Demonstrate a robust understanding of the political, economic and social context within which the Our Manchester Forum operates.

It is hoped to be able to reflect the diversity in Manchester, and as such applications are welcomed from people from a broad range of backgrounds.

The Forum meets four times a year, and the next meeting is on Tuesday 13 December 2016 at 5pm.
