Proud 2 b Parents exist to improve the health and wellbeing of LGBT+ parents/carers and their children, whilst reducing health inequalities. Proud 2 b Parents do this by providing effective social and support services, whilst championing social change and advocating for the community's needs locally and nationally.
Their training has been developed through research and the lived experiences of service beneficiaries. They have shared their own experiences and wanted to ensure service change, inclusivity and affirming LGBT+ environments were at the heart of their training packages. Proud 2 b Parents know that their training builds, ‘Confidence in working with LGBT+ clients’, whilst providing insight and ‘understanding of how difficult and challenging it has been for parents/carers’.
The training covers:
Including LGBT+ parents/ carers and their children training – This training programme is specifically designed to support health care settings, service providers, corporate organisations and family based services
Including LGBT+ adopters and foster carers – This training programme is aimed at Adoption and Fostering agencies
Trauma-informed practice, including LGBT+ parents/ carers and their children – This training is aimed at all service-providing agencies/organisations that work with families and children.
Including LGBT+ parents/ carers and their children in education – These training sessions are aimed at early years setting, primary school and secondary school
