we lead for legacyWe Lead for Legacy, a Greater Manchester Civic and Community Leadership Programme is a transformative opportunity for you to become a leader who drives change.

We Lead For Legacy is a high level leadership programme for, both, current and future leaders from racially minoritised communities, brought to you by She Leads For Legacy, Flourish Together and Reform Radio, in partnership with Greater Manchester Combined Authority. The project will take place from November 2023, through to June 2024, with a series of expert sessions throughout, exploring the following:

  • Effective Communication to Lead Change: Public speaking and communicating with courage to engage and inspire people to take action with tools for influence and impact.
  • ‘The Leader in Me’: Leadership mindset and philosophy to enable people to recognise their leadership potential and step into their power.
  • Leadership Styles and the System Changes that are necessary to address racial discrimination: Diverse perspectives and leadership styles, understanding Systems Change across geography, culture, sector and societal need, whilst innovating solutions to address racial discrimination within leadership and Civic Society.
  • Leading with purpose and taking action: Exploring challenges of the future and routes to tackling these as a leader.

You will explore these modules through in-person workshops, online reflection, peer learning groups and action-based mentorship days.

The outlined programme dates are as follows: 23 November, 7 December, 18 January, 8 February, 14 March, 9 May, and 13 June 2024.

This programme is designed to offer participants first-hand knowledge of public appointees' roles and responsibilities, offering insight into the systems and procedures of public bodies, alongside building awareness, confidence and skills to enable participation in civic and community roles, and bring unique voices and lived experiences to the forefront.

Who can apply
This high level leadership programme is specifically designed for current and future leaders from racially minoritised communities across all ten boroughs of Manchester, to challenge equal representation within leadership roles. It is open to those of all sectors, and welcomes individuals over the age of eighteen years old, who have experience within such work environments and atmospheres.

By joining, you'll be part of a movement, a proactive effort to confront challenges of racism and racial disparities across the region.
