Moss Side, an inner-city Manchester neighbourhood, is often reduced to external perceptions of crime, violence and poverty. While these challenges exist, such narratives overshadow the vibrant, multifaceted reality cherished by its residents.

The housing crisis isn’t an issue that exists in isolation. People’s experiences of poverty and the lack of decent affordable homes are interlinked, as are the solutions that would improve our housing system and help people thrive.
As communicators, we need to explain these connections, show how solutions can work, and build belief that change is not only necessary, but is actually possible.

The Open Doors Project, established by The University of Manchester's Office for Social Responsibility in partnership with Manchester Museum, Alliance Manchester Business School and the Christabel Pankhurst Building, provides free meeting room space on the Oxford Road campus for community organisations.
