The menopause is a natural occurrence, yet up until recently, it has received little attention despite the impact it is known to have on women at work.
 
The average age of women who reach menopause in the UK is 51, although some women may experience this sooner whether by nature or other health conditions. 
 
A CIPD survey in 2023 found 67% of those surveyed felt menopause had a negative impact on them at work and 53% of participants had taken sick leave because of their symptoms. Additionally, a poll by the Fawcett Society reported that a quarter of employees currently experiencing the menopause said their experience has made them more likely to leave the workforce before retirement.
