The Employers’ Initiative on Domestic Abuse (EIDA) is a network of over 1,800 UK employers committed to taking effective action on domestic abuse. This session will provide a deeper understanding of the impact of domestic abuse, its relevance to the workplace, and how employers can create a supportive environment for those affected.
Led by Kristin Thue, Communications and Engagement Coordinator at EIDA, this interactive session will cover:
- Who is EIDA and what do we do?
- The employer’s role – why domestic abuse is a workplace issue
- Understanding domestic abuse – what it is, key statistics, and common misconceptions
- Survivor perspectives – real-life insights into the impact of domestic abuse
- Taking effective action – using the Recognise, Respond, Refer framework
- Questions and responses – an opportunity to ask questions and explore practical steps
Domestic abuse affects 1 in 4 women and 1 in 7 men in the UK, with an estimated annual cost to businesses of £17 billion in England alone. Employers play a crucial role in creating a safe and supportive workplace where employees can access help.
This session is open to all employees and is designed to equip attendees with the knowledge and confidence to take meaningful action. You can join EIDA for free
