Home Truths 2: Race Equity Series session four continues a new event series hosted by ACEVO and Voice4Change England. This is an integral part of our ongoing initiative aimed at challenging and addressing racial inequality in civil society.
Join for a lively discussion on how mainstream civil society can transition towards a deeper and irreversible commitment to race equity. The session will explore how civil society can move from occasionally focussing on anti-racism and race equity to making these values central to who we are and what we do.
The session will explore important issues, such as why anti-racist action is so reliant on there being visible crises (e.g., Covid-19, the murder of George Floyd and xenophobic and racist riots). And we will explore how some civil society organisations are attempting to make anti-racism central to why they get out of bed in the morning.
This race equity session will be brought to you by a lineup including Sanjiv Lingayah, Director of Reframing Race and the Home Truths 2 Race Equity Lead, and guest practitioner Mandeep Rupra, Director of equity and belonging at Citizens Advice who is currently overseeing and driving the Citizens Advices’ strategic EDI ambitions, including its Race Matters Programme to address race disparities within service delivery and workforce outcomes.
Mandeep is a globally recognised and award winning equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) change agent with a proven track record of spearheading change to improve organisational EDI practice and culture, particularly in relation to race equity. Mandeep has led on high impact change programmes to address systemic racism, some of which have been recognised as a sector leading. Core to her practice is her belief in the importance of centring lived experience and undertaking the work within a social justice model to improve trust, EDI outcomes and leadership.
