People will be encouraged to give time, expertise and resources towards the projects they identify in their areas. The government will match these pound for pound, helping to stimulate local action towards meeting community needs.

Swinton Insurance Project Summer - Win £5000 for your local community project plus £250 for you

This summer Swinton is looking to help people and the communities they live in by completing projects that matter to them.

From Monday 21 July 2014 to Sunday 3 August 2014 you can nominate a project in your local community to win £5000 and if you’re the lucky person who nominated the winning community project you’ll receive £250.

Clean-up your community with a £200 grant

Manchester City Council are offering grants of up to £200 to help clean-up areas across Manchester.

Grants are available to help you to run regular clean-ups and, or greening events in the area in which you live. Please note grants will only be awarded for clean-up projects taking place within the Manchester boundaries.

Discuss with your neighbours or group what event or activity you would like to do, and get quotes or costings for anything you might need.

Grants can be for tools, equipment, materials and any other reasonable costs for carrying out a clean-up project.

 The Manchester Common Assessment Framework (MCAF) is a key part of Manchester’s Early Help Strategy and the Threshold of Need Document. Participation by voluntary and community sector (VCS) groups in MCAF is low in Manchester and nationally and the majority of engagement is with a small number of established medium to large voluntary sector organisations (£100,000 ->£1,000,000 funding) that employ professional staff.
