Emerging Futures - Recovery Coaches Training Programme

Emerging Futures is recruiting volunteer recovery coaches to work across Manchester as part of the MIDAS Community Team.

Training is fully accredited by LASER (formerly OCN) and expenses will be reimbursed.

Community Links for Health Tender

North Manchester Clinical Commissioning Group (NMCCG) and Public Health, Manchester City Council are holding a meeting to discuss their future tender for Community Links for Health in North Manchester on Monday 16th January, from  9.30-12.30 at Friends Meeting House, 6 Mount Street, M2 5NS. Communities Links for Health will connect people who access health and care services with a range of social and community sources of support to enable them to improve their health.

Taking Charge – Six Months In - Greater Manchester Health and Social Care Devolution

In April 2016, the Greater Manchester Health and Care Partnership took charge of the £6 billion spent on health and social care services in the region.

The devolution deal also gave them a £450million Transformation Fund (over five years) to be used to change the way we do things in the longer term.

Talking Heads for Basic Cancer Awareness Training

Macmillan Cancer Improvement Partnership (MCIP) in Manchester has commissioned University Hospital of South Manchester (UHSM) and a company called Dynamic to deliver an e-learning programme for non-cancer specialists within the community. Its aim is to help non-cancer specialists better support people affected by cancer that they come in to contact with.

The e-learning will cover:
• The nature of cancer
• Prevention and screening

Group receives Lottery funding to unite Greater Manchester’s unpaid Carers

The Big Lottery Fund has awarded over £380,000 to an organisation working across Manchester and Liverpool City Regions to unite unpaid carers of people with dementia and give them a strong voice. The decision was made after discovering that the health and care services across the country save over £11bn a year by relying upon the tireless work of unpaid dementia carers, many of whom put their own wellbeing at risk every day.

Complete our important State of the Sector Survey

We have extended the deadline to complete our State of the Sector survey to 18 December 2016.

We would like to encourage your organisation to complete our important survey as we want to know how the government cuts and economic recession have affected our sector. We need to know how many groups have lost funding, how many have had to reduce services and how many have had to close or are facing closure. But also how we continue to work together providing valuable services and support to the people of Manchester.

Local Care Organisation Prospectus Consultation

The three Manchester Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) have written an open letter to the voluntary and commuity sector in the city to invite comments on their plans for the new Local Care Organisation (LCO). 

In their letter, the chairs of the North, Central and South Manchester CCGs explain how the LCO fits into the plans for devolved health and social care in Greater Manchester and confirm that it will be the organisation that holds and delivers a single contract for out-of-hospital care in the future.
