Understanding gender and sexuality is essential for new teachers, long standing teachers, heterosexual teachers and lesbian, gay bisexual or trans teachers. It is also vital to understand in order to meet new legal and Ofsted requirements.
This one day conference will equip you with the knowledge and skills to make your school safer, more inclusive, and more celebratory of the rich diversity within your school. It is open to all those in education, from Primary through to Higher Education. The theme this year is science, technology engineering and maths though they welcome people from every discipline.
The day will involve hearing from key speakers, including Ofsted some VIPs, interactive workshops, watching exclusive LGBT theatre in education performances and culminating in a lively debate in the evening on the theme- This house would welcome the discovery of the 'Gay Gene'. The day will also include the School's Out AGM, and voting in the new trustees.
By purchasing your ticket, you are also entitled to attend pre-conference seminars on the week leading up to the conference, as well as access on the Sunday (3rd) to the Museum of Science and Industry's Alan Turing event (including a highly acclaimed drama performance of Alan Turing's life).
