This is a unique opportunity to be part of the largest VCSE (Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise organisations) Carbon Literacy training event Manchester has ever seen, as part of International Carbon Literacy Action Day (CLAD) 2026!
Date: 11 November 2026
Time: 9:30am – 4:30pm
Venue: Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU) Business School, M15 6BY
You will also be contributing to the Manchester Carbon Literate City (MCLC) initiative, which is coordinated by Manchester City Council (MCC) and supported by many other organisations across Manchester, to achieve 85,000 Carbon Literate people and collectively move towards our city's goals on climate change and community empowerment.
This course was created by Manchester Community Central (Macc) via the 2025 Manchester Carbon Literacy Fund for staff, volunteers and members of the Greater Manchester VCSE sector, who want to:
- Understand the science of climate change;
- Recognise the global and local impacts of climate change on communities and ecosystems;
- Identify actionable steps you and your organisation can take to mitigate and adapt to climate change;
- Increase your ability to influence and inspire change within your organisation and community;
- Develop a strategic action plan to implement effective steps to address climate change.

Refreshments will be provided during the day, with a break for lunch. You are also invited to join us at 5pm in Sandbar for a People Planet Pint in celebration of CLAD week participants. Relax over a drink, chat and get to know your fellow VCSE members and local Carbon Literacy stakeholders (all colleagues, associates and friends welcome, details to follow upon booking).
At the end of the day, you will devise an individual action and a group action relevant to your role in the VCSE sector, which will later be assessed by The Carbon Literacy Project, before awarding you with a globally-recognised certificate to demonstrate your Carbon Literacy.
Book your free place to get involved! Spaces are limited to 5 people per group - if you'd like more of your organisation to be supported to access the training in future, please get in touch via mclc@carbonliteracy.com and we can discuss your specific needs and goals.
This event has been made possible through the MCLC network, with support from MCC, 10GM, MMU, The Growth Company, Macc, Groundwork GM, DRH AMRE, Positive Planet, Autotrader, and our brilliant trainer network who will be volunteering their time to deliver the training.
