Free creative courses for young adults

Reform Radio are offering a range of free creative courses for young people living within Manchester postcodes. 

Alongside broadcasting independent music and culture, Reform Radio use creative media to support young adults across Greater Manchester into meaningful careers.

Beyond the training itself, all participants receive 1:1 mentorship from experienced creative professionals throughout the course and for 6 weeks after, helping them to build confidence, develop skills, and navigate industry opportunities.

Music Industry Day (Thursday 3 September, 10am - 3pm)

Join Reform Radio for their Music Industry Day, led by artist Werkha. Explore collaborative music-making, connect with other young creatives, and discover training opportunities in the music industry. This event also marks the launch of applications for Soundcamp 2026, Reform Radio's six-month artist development programme, and popular Music Course. No experience needed. Free pizza, travel expenses and a full day of creativity included.

Eligibility: Aged 16-25, Manchester based
 

Freelancer Blueprint Course (Monday 7 September – Thursday 10 September, 10am - 4pm)

On the Freelancer's Blueprint course, you'll learn everything you need to start your freelance journey, from managing your finances and filing taxes, to building your personal brand, finding clients and growing your professional network. You'll leave with the knowledge, tools and confidence to build a successful career in the creative industries

Eligibility: Aged 19-30, not in full-time employment/education, living in Manchester
 

Music Course (Taster session Thursday 24 September, 1pm - 2:30pm) 

Course date: Monday 28 September – Friday 9 October, 10am - 4pm

On the Music Course, you'll learn how to write songs and lyrics, produce music using industry standard software, and record and arrange your own tracks. You'll develop your creative and technical skills while working as a part of a team to produce a live radio show, where your finished music will be broadcast on Reform Radio.

Eligibility: Aged 19-30, not in full-time employment/education, living in Manchester
 

DJ Sessions (Taster session - Wednesday 14 October, 1pm - 2:30pm)

Course date: Wednesday 21 October – Wednesday 9 December (Wednesdays & Thursdays), 5pm - 9pm

On the DJ Sessions course, you'll learn the fundamentals of mixing and blending tracks, beat matching, cueing, phrasing and using professional DJ equipment to build smooth transitions and create engaging sets. Along the way, you'll develop your confidence behind the decks before performing your own 10-minute live DJ set at a Reform Radio showcase
