The Community Ownership and Management of Assets programme (COMA) is a national programme run by Locality [6] and Community Matters [7].
On the 16th April 2015 we held the first of two voluntary sector assemblies (VSA) designed to prepare the voluntary sector for the coming year, a year in which we know there will be further cuts in public sector spending that will hurt most severely the people we support.
The Big Lottery Fund are looking to fund projects that draw on the strengths and personal experiences of people facing hardship so that they can overcome immediate difficulties and be ready for opportunities and challenges ahead. The Lottery are looking for projects that provide tailored support, advice and advocacy to enable people to address difficulties and be in a better position to improve circumstances and plan for their future.
The Youth Fund will provide core funding to organisations within the youth sector and outside. This is a direct response to feedback from their strategy consultation – that in order to achieve greatest positive impact in the lives of young people you work with or for, you need to achieve a balance of stability, continuity and flexibility
The Paul Hamlyn Foundation want to encourage the development, use and sustainability of effective arts-based activities in education, through arts organisations working with schools, further education colleges and teachers. This fund will support arts organisations working with schools to improve the evidence base for their work, so that they can do more to enhance the lives, development and achievements of children and young people.
The Shared Ground Fund will provide organisations with the financial support they need to test new approaches and explore ways of addressing new challenges in this area of great change and uncertainty. It will also support organisations with an already strong track record of achievement with substantial help to achieve a greater impact.
The Paul Hamlyn Foundation want to use their funding to support organisations to test, implement and develop ambitious plans to widen access to and deepen participation in the arts. It will not be enough to simply increase numbers – the emphasis is on addressing inequalities of opportunity. The Paul Hamlyn Foundation want to help organisations to build stronger evidence about what works so that they can improve practice and achieve greater impact.
Buckthorn House is a newly established community facility in South Manchester and it will be hosting a free Breakfast Club from 20 July – 28 August 2015, Monday to Friday, 9.30-10.30.
Southway Housing want to create a welcoming atmosphere where the community can get together and enjoy a healthy start to their day.
Southway Housing need some sociable and reliable volunteers for anything from one day to every day. If you’re happy to help set tables, make tea and coffee, and wash pots, you could be part of this activity that promises to be rewarding and fun.
