Emergency funding of up to £60,000 available to nonprofits in England that are committed to proactively sharing learnings with other organisations in their networks.

This fund is aimed at organisations whose work has been affected by COVID-19 and who need emergency funding to continue to deliver essential services. It will support them to develop the digital, data and design capabilities that allow them to address urgent issues and serve the most vulnerable.

This funding is a combination of direct grants and payment for support from digital agencies.

The Fellowship are looking for 8 Fellows who are working in the Greater Manchester Community and Voluntary Sector. The programme is for people who may have very little experience in technology, but a lot of experience of working in communities, and curiosity about the ways in which technology is shaping everything that we do.

A new charity, The Fat Beehive Foundation, has launched to support and amplify the work of small charities providing much needed services.

The charity will provide grants of up to £2,500 to help small charities build websites and digital products which will enhance their work and consequently provide social good.

Residents from across Greater Manchester are invited to apply for fully funded training programmes designed to help individuals gain digital employment with companies in the city-region.

The free training programmes, which have been funded as part of the Fast Track Digital Workforce Fund to create inclusive opportunities into digital employment, are now open for candidate applications.

The Community Development training platform offers a range of free online digital courses covering everything from leadership and finance to communication skills.

Supported by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, FutureDotNow are coordinating industry action through a new initiative, DevicesDotNow, targeting the 1.7 million households who don’t have access to the internet and are digitally excluded as we face a socially distanced world gripped by COVID-19.

Charities are being asked to take part in this year’s Charity Digital Skills Report, the annual barometer of the sector’s use of digital technology.

The report aims to create an up to date picture of current digital opportunities within charities as well as risks the sector is facing. It will also help charities benchmark their digital capabilities.

The Live Projects Scheme is an exciting opportunity for local organisations to set a project for a team of Manchester Metropolitan University undergraduate computing students.

Any local organisation, including businesses, charities and community groups, can take on the role of a client and work with students benefiting from their enthusiasm and knowledge.

Good Things Foundation has been contracted by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) to support the delivery of the next Census in England and Wales.

In 2021 the Census will be ‘digital first’ and Good Things Foundation will provide support to ensure those without digital skills or digital access can participate.
