Help us showcase the work of Manchester’s voluntary, community and social enterprise sector

Our State of the Sector Survey in 2013 found that there were 3,093 voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations in Manchester, with an estimated income of £477 million. The sector employed the equivalent of 12,400 full time staff and 94,300 volunteers gave 370,000 hours, with an estimated value of £332 million. Decision makers took note of the survey results, we know it increased their understanding of the sector. Some of the key facts (3093 organisations, 94,300 volunteers) are now widely quoted by colleagues in the Council, the NHS and other bodies such as Big Lottery Fund.

Grant to support street based services for rough sleepers

Manchester’s Community Safety Partnership will award £20,000 to be used to co-ordinate and improve the delivery of safe and effective street based services to rough sleepers in the City of Manchester. These street based services provide a range of support to rough sleepers in the City, which include, but is not limited to the provision of:
• Food
• Clothes
• Tents
• Sleeping bags

Tesco Bags of Help

Bags of Help is Tesco’s local community grant scheme where the money raised from the 5p bag levy in Tesco stores is being used to fund thousands of community projects across the UK. The projects must meet the criteria of promoting community participation in the development and use of outdoor spaces.

Bags of Help is administered by Groundwork and supported in Scotland by greenspace Scotland.

Postcode Local Trust

Postcode Local Trust is inviting applications that encourage lasting benefits by bringing people together to improve local ecology and habitats, encourage bio-diversity and benefit the wider environment.

Registered charities in England, Scotland and Wales can apply from £500 - £20,000 (£10,000 in Wales) for projects meeting the above remit, whilst other organisations may apply for up to £2,000.

People’s Postcode Trust – 2016 Grants

People’s Postcode Trust exists to try to make the world a better place through short-term, designated funding for projects that focus on the prevention of poverty, support healthy living initiatives and uphold human rights for some of society’s most vulnerable groups. It will also consider projects which help different communities come together for the benefit of their local area.

Nine Lives Community Fund

The Nine Lives Fund is a partnership between Forever Manchester and the Chambers of 9 St. Johns Street, Manchester. The Fund is currently inviting applications from groups that provide activities for young people between the ages of 10 – 18 and living in deprived areas of Greater Manchester and with an income of under £150K. Priority will be given to projects working with children and young people with disabilities. Awards of up to £2,000 are available.

RBS Skills and Opportunities Fund

Just Act Community Fund

Just Act, the online community that helps people who want to make a difference in their local area, has now become part of the Crowdfunder family. Because Just Act have taken over the day-to-day running of the website they’ve created the Just Act Community Fund, distributing £50,000 to community projects across England and Wales. Just Act will be adding up to 50% of the funding target to a maximum of £1,000 to volunteer-led community projects that will change lives for the better.

The GSK IMPACT Awards 2016

The awards are designed to recognise and reward charities that are doing excellent work to improve people’s health. The awards are open to registered charities that are at least three years old, working in a health-related field in the UK, with a total annual income of between £25,000 and £2 million.

They are funded by GlaxoSmithKline and managed in partnership with The King’s Fund.
