This course will take you through the essentials of lawful data processing for charities and help improve your compliance with the law.

By the end of the training, you'll: 

  • understand the principles of data processing and how your organisation is expected to comply with them
  • know about the lawful bases for processing, as well as the extra conditions for processing special category data
  • understand subject rights, subject access requests, data breaches and how to deal with them
  • know the difference between data controllers and data processors, and what needs to be in place when sharing data with other organisations
  • know about recent changes to the legislation or what's coming up in the future.

Whatever type of organisation you may be, if you process personal data you will need to be UK GDPR compliant.

This course is aimed at anyone within an organisation that handles or processes the personal data of:

  • staff
  • service users
  • beneficiaries
  • volunteers
  • customers
  • members
  • supporters.

If you process special category data such as health, sexual orientation and religious beliefs, or children's data, the course will also guide you through the extra responsibilities you have.

The course will also be suitable for individuals that procure services from third parties where personal data is shared.
