End Child Poverty Coalition - More than half of children now living in poverty in some parts of the UK

The End Child Poverty coalition has published figures providing a new child poverty map of the UK. The new figures reveal that there are now constituencies within the UK where more than half of children are growing up in poverty – compared to one in ten, in the areas with the lowest child poverty rates.

Locality is the national network of ambitious and enterprising community-led organisations, working together to help neighbourhoods thrive. They established the Commission on the Future of Localism in 2017, in partnership with Power to Change, and chaired by Lord Kerslake to consider how to reinvigorate localism and unlock the power of community. The ambition behind the Localism Act is in danger of waning, and the fundamental shift in power from Westminster to communities has not yet been achieved.
