Social Impact Awards 2014

The Social Impact Awards 2014 are a national awards programme to celebrate and reward excellence in charities, not for profit and social enterprise organisations as well as public and private sector organisations who have made a ‘big difference’ in their communities.

The awards will be presented at an evening theatre style ceremony in Manchester on 7 May 2014, following a half day conference, which will provide education, information, advice and case studies for third sector organisations and their partners in the public and private sectors.

The Orchard Windfalls Fund 2014

The Tree Council has funds available to assist schools and community groups proposing to undertake well-planned orchard planting projects during National Tree Week, 29 November to 7 December 2014.

This grant fund is open to all Schools and Community Groups within the United Kingdom, with the condition that children aged sixteen or under with the condition that children aged sixteen or under are involved in the planting or, where the trees are too large to be directly handled by them, related educational activities.

Employers: claim a cash incentive and make a difference to Youth Unemployment

How does it work?
If you take on an 18-24 year old through Jobcentre Plus, who has been claiming benefits for at least six months, for 16 hours or more each week in a job lasting more than 26 weeks then you could claim a wage incentive.

What wage incentive could I claim?
For full-time work of 30 hours or more a week - £2,275.
For part time work between 16 and 29 hours a week - £1,137.50.

Managed by the Football Foundation on behalf of the funding partners – the Premier League, The FA and Government, via Sport England – the Fund is a three-year £102m commitment to improving the nation’s grassroots football facilities.

Lipreading Class

Who are lipreading classes for?
Lipreading classes are designed for people with a hearing loss who may be finding it difficult to follow conversations.

Sometimes, friends and families of people with a hearing loss also come along to learn how to communicate better with their friend or relative.

The emphasis of the class is on fully including people with a hearing loss so that they can fully understand what is going on in the class.
