Greater Manchester Youth Network (GMYN) are in an exciting period of growth as they embark on the delivery of a number of new projects and services to support young people across Greater Manchester. They would like to expand their board in this time of development.

GMYN want board members who believe in their cause and are able to give enough time to the role.

No previous experience of board membership is needed. Applications are welcomed from people of all ages and backgrounds. Enthusiasm and commitment are the most important qualities they are looking for.

The BBC's One Show is looking for a family to talk about the rising costs of living.

Have you been 'feeling the squeeze' recently? Have your food, transport and energy costs gone up and are they putting pressure on your household finances? Do you sometimes wonder where all the money is going?

The BBC's One Show is looking for a lovely, chatty, close-knit family, where three generations (grandparents, parents and kids) all live near to each other and are happy to spend a day together being filmed.

The University of Manchester’s Funded Student Experience Internships

The University of Manchester has launched a pilot Student Experience Internship scheme which provides funding to pay for a limited number of students to undertake an eight week summer internship within organisations in the charity and not-for-profit sector in Manchester.

The aim is to help organisations complete projects or for students to help by undertaking a particular role that is required during the summer months. Projects can be varied in nature but need to be achievable within the eight week period.

Office space for hire, suitable for voluntary and community groups

Church Action on Poverty have space available for hire in their central Manchester office.

Church Action on Poverty are looking to sub-let some of their office space to other Manchester-based charities and community groups.

There is room for up to six desks at a rate of £2,500 per desk per year (a lower price can be negotiated if you do not need all of the services listed below).

Proposals invited for victims’ services commissioning

A fund of up to £12 million for Police and Crime Commissioners (PCCs) to use towards the commissioning of victims’ service in 2014/15 was announced recently by the Ministry of Justice. In Greater Manchester, there will be potential access to a maximum of £1.1 million.

The PCC for Greater Manchester is considering a number of proposals for commissioning already; however, he would also like to offer an opportunity to partners to put forward further suggestions for consideration and potential prioritisation.

Lloyds Bank Foundation launches new grant programmes

The new funding programmes invest in charities supporting people to break out of disadvantage at critical points in their lives, and promote practical approaches to lasting change. Support will be adapted to the needs of small and medium sized charities (income between £25,000 and £1 million) that are committed to delivering work which breaks or prevents cycles of disadvantage.

Charity Commission Updates Annual Return Form 2014

In 2013 the Charity Commission consulted on proposed changes to the Annual Return for 2014. As a result of this consultation they have introduced some new questions to the Annual Return for 2014, as well as removing the requirement for charities with income over £1million to complete the Summary Information Return (SIR).
