BBC Children in Need Main Grants – deadline 15 May 2014

The BBC Children in Need Main Grants programme is open to charities and not-for-profit organisations applying for grants over £10,000 per year for up to three years.

Grants are given for:
Children and young people of 18 years and under experiencing disadvantage through:
1. Illness, distress, abuse or neglect
2. Any kind of disability
3. Behavioural or psychological difficulties
4. Living in poverty or situations of deprivation

British Red Cross offers Free First Aid courses for youth groups

The 'Everyday First Aid' course is easy to learn, easy to remember and designed to increase young people's willingness to help in an emergency.

Skills covered include the ones young people most commonly need to use:
• Helping someone who's bleeding
• Helping someone who has a burn
• Helping someone who's choking
• Helping someone who is unconscious and breathing

The sessions can be adapted for your group's needs.

Proposals invited for victims’ services commissioning

A fund of up to £12 million for Police and Crime Commissioners (PCCs) to use towards the commissioning of victims’ service in 2014/15 was announced recently by the Ministry of Justice. In Greater Manchester, there will be potential access to a maximum of £1.1 million.

The PCC for Greater Manchester is considering a number of proposals for commissioning already; however, he would also like to offer an opportunity to partners to put forward further suggestions for consideration and potential prioritisation.

Lloyds Bank Foundation launches new grant programmes

The new funding programmes invest in charities supporting people to break out of disadvantage at critical points in their lives, and promote practical approaches to lasting change. Support will be adapted to the needs of small and medium sized charities (income between £25,000 and £1 million) that are committed to delivering work which breaks or prevents cycles of disadvantage.

Charity Commission Updates Annual Return Form 2014

In 2013 the Charity Commission consulted on proposed changes to the Annual Return for 2014. As a result of this consultation they have introduced some new questions to the Annual Return for 2014, as well as removing the requirement for charities with income over £1million to complete the Summary Information Return (SIR).

Lloyds Bank Community Fund 2014 - Invites nominations

Lloyds Bank is running its annual community fund promotion as part of its responsible business programme and inviting nominations for local good causes in the UK.

Anyone over the age of 18 years and who is resident in the UK can nominate a project or a service that makes a positive difference to the local community for a cash prize. Awards range from £3,000 for a first place to £2,000 for a second place, £1,000 for a third place, and £500 for a fourth place.

Equity Foundation Grants 2014

The Equity Foundation grants exist to ensure that grassroots community groups are able to access the resources they need to deliver in their communities.

There are currently three funding streams:
Equity Green Shoots Fund – grants of up to £2,500 for projects with a clear focus on supporting people in to work and promoting financial inclusion

Equity Healthy Communities Fund – grants of up to £2,500 to support projects and groups whose primary aim is to improve or promote healthy living
