These grants are available for the purchase and refurbishment of assets.

What are the themes for 2014?

Community Assets – Under the Hammer: Capital grants to facilitate competitive bidding for land and buildings to make use of the Right to Bid. If you apply under this theme you will need to have registered the building or land as an asset of community value and be actively looking to use the Right to Bid;

Heart Research UK and Subway Healthy Heart Grants

Heart Research UK (HRUK) and Subway® Healthy Heart Grants of up to £10,000 are available for new, original and innovative projects that actively promote Heart Health and help to prevent, or reduce, the risk of heart disease in specific groups or communities.

The HRUK and SUBWAY® Healthy Heart Grant is only available for projects that actively promote heart health and reduce the risk of heart disease. A funding pot of £10,000 is available in each region.

Only community or voluntary organisations, registered charities or other not for profit organisations may apply.

Training Grants - available from Community Group Training

Each year Community Group Training use profits to give out as grants. As Community Group Training launched in September 2013, their first grants will be distributed in September 2014.

Community Group Training are committed to supporting small voluntary and community groups in the UK. They distribute grants through their Charitable Foundation which are then given out through grants.

Grants Available to UK Groups for Money/Debt Advice Projects

The MSE Charity has grants of up to £5,000 available for self-help groups and innovative projects that will help educate people about money/debt/consumer issues. Projects must assist people to improve their quality of life through knowledge and understanding of how to manage and take control of their own financial situation. Projects must also provide outcomes that will benefit their wider communities.

Rusholme U-Decide - apply for a grant for your community

Manchester City Council have money to invest in the Rusholme area to support projects that will benefit the local community.

Groups may only submit one application up to a maximum value of £2,000 and all project ideas must benefit the Rusholme Community.

Project ideas must be submitted by 23 May 2014.

Santander Social Enterprise Development Awards

The Santander Social Enterprise Development Awards aim to support social enterprises and charities with trading activities looking to grow their business and improve their local community.

The Development Awards are targeted at established social ventures that have ambitions to develop their organisation but need a financial boost to help them realise their potential. SEDA is an annual competition with winners selected on the strength of their business plan for growth.

Supporting Older People and Reducing Pressure on Hospitals

This new £2m fund that will support services that use social action to help older people stay well, manage their conditions or recover from illness or injury, and thereby reduce pressure on hospitals.

Grants are now available to help Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprises (VCSEs) and local NHS/social care organisations to develop innovative social action interventions that provide extra support to older people and help reduce pressure on hospitals this coming winter (2014/15).

Host organisations for Talent Match coaches wanted

GMCVO is inviting organisations to apply to host one of the first group of ‘Talent Coaches’, under Greater Manchester’s Talent Match programme.

Talent Match is a £108 million Big Lottery funded scheme aimed at tackling youth unemployment in 21 areas of England hardest hit by the economic downturn. It is a five-year investment for those aged 18-24 who have not been in employment, education or training for 12 months or more and need particular support to help them along the pathway to work.
