Help the Homeless Grants

Help The Homeless gives grants up to £5,000 for capital costs to small and medium-sized registered charities (those with a turnover of under £1m per annum).

They fund projects that assist individuals in their return to mainstream society, rather than simply offer shelter or other forms of sustenance.

The next deadline is 31 December 2013.

Crowdfunding: raising funds, building community

Crowdfunding is a way of raising finance by asking a large number of people each for a small amount of money.

Do you have a great idea or project?
Would you like to engage your supporters in a new way?
Are you keen to use an innovative fundraising tool?

In partnership with Manchester City Council and CrowdfundUK we are running briefing sessions on:

Date & Time: 18 November, 2013 - 10:00 to 12:00
Venue: Southway Housing Trust, Aspen House, 825 Wilmslow Road, Didsbury, Manchester, M20 2SN
*This session is now fully booked

Rethinking Parks – Nesta, the Heritage Lottery and the Big Lottery Fund

Over the next two years, Nesta, The Heritage Lottery Fund and The Big Lottery Fund will back a small number of pioneering innovations, with a focus on finding the new business models that will enable our parks to thrive for the next century.

Voluntary and community sector organisations and public sector organisations from across the UK may apply for grants of between £50,001 and £100,000 as well as nonfinancial support to carry out their innovative ideas to make the UK's public parks financially sustainable.

How does your organisation demonstrate its social impact?

Is this the million dollar question? In the world of Return on Investment (ROI) and cost benefit analysis where L’oreal campaigns are banned and you need to PROVE “you’re worth it”, everything we found comfortable, and have coined phrases about, is rewritten. The money is no longer where the mouth is but where the outcomes are and increasingly, organisations are being asked to show not only what outcomes will be achieved but to also explain those outcomes in the context of counterfactual analysis: what would happen without your project? Can you prove the importance of your service?

Adactus Housing Relaunch Neighbourhood Fund

Following the first round of neighbourhood funding Adactus have supported or pledged to support 75 projects across Manchester, Trafford and Cheshire totaling £78,000 in 2013/14. The fund is judged by Adactus residents and they have £9,000 still available for community projects.

Projects supported so far this year include funding for events provided by residents’ associations; support for community allotments and gardens and support costs for community groups.

The Royal Brewery Fund

The Royal Brewery Fund’s priority is to encourage and support grass-root community activity. This means small, community-based and locally controlled groups that manage themselves, encourage active participation from volunteers, have minimal cash reserves and limited access to funding support.

Applications are invited from community groups based in the Moss Side and Hulme areas that wish to improve circumstances for people within these communities.

Grants Programme for Manchester’s Voluntary and Community Sector

There will be a fund of £550k from the three Manchester Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) available early January 2014, to Manchester’s Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS). The main aim of the programme of work will be to reduce social isolation and loneliness for people over 50 years old in Manchester.

The programme will also aim to build greater understanding of how the Manchester CCGs can work with VCS organisations to improve health and wellbeing outcomes for Manchester residents over the age of 50 years.
