Sport plays an important role in improving the lives of millions of people across the world, bringing people together to play, learn, improve their health and benefit from shared experiences. By bringing together rugby’s core values of teamwork, respect, enjoyment, discipline and sportsmanship, Comic Relief and England Rugby will tackle a number of significant social challenges including educational attainment, social inclusion, unemployment, mental and physical wellbeing, personal development and community cohesion.

The Road Ahead - An NCVO Review

The Road Ahead - A review of the voluntary sector's operating environment is the latest NCVO analysis of the challenges and opportunities for the voluntary sector. It shows that there continued to be a rising demand for services but at the same time, reducing resources from local and central government. NCVO also predict that this will continue to present a challenge together with other issues such as the potential impact of the Brexit vote on the economy and household income.

Woodward Charitable Trust - Children’s Summer Playschemes

Each year the trustees of the Woodward Charitable Trust set aside funds for summer playschemes for children between the ages of 5-16 years. Woodward Charitable Trust

Trustees only fund programmes that run for a minimum of 2 weeks or 10 days across the summer holidays.

Grants can only be paid to registered charities. Most grants awarded are in the range of £500 to £1,000. Around 35 grants are made each year.

In 2011 Manchester took the decision to address the fragmented VCSE infrastructure in the city by combining it into a single body. Effectively this arrangement has only been in place since 2012 and has already been re-tendered once (where Macc was the successful bidder).

Postcode Local Trust Grants

The Postcode Local Trust has changed its funding themes and application process, and is currently open for its first funding round of 2017. In 2017, the Trust is looking to fund projects that are of local importance, with a particular focus on projects that improve the environment for the benefit of local communities and encourage conservation action at a local level.
