Three charities based in Manchester have shared a £30,000 windfall as part of Ecclesiastical Insurance Group’s annual Movement for Good awards.
Sharks Community Trust, Humans MCR and The Maggie Oliver Foundation are three of 30 charities chosen by a panel of judges that will benefit from the money.
Funding is intended to support community-led organisations to deliver change by drawing on the 'lived experiences' of people who have experienced the issues being tackled. These issues should align with one of Comic Relief's four strategic themes:
Lloyds Bank Foundation’s Racial Equity funding strand is aimed at charities where more than half of their Trustee Board self-identify as belonging to a Black, Asian or Minority Ethnic community. The charity must have a focus on supporting people from specific Black, Asian or Minority Ethnic communities to overcome any of the following 11 Complex Social Issues:

We Stand Together is the Greater Manchester brand for cohesion and your organisation can receive a grant to help We Stand Together achieve its goals.
The process is slightly different from other grants:
One Manchester are currently inviting applications to their Social Recovery Fund and are looking to offer grants of between £2,000 and £10,000 (from a total fund of £50,000) to rebuild and grow new connections in our communities.
One Manchester want to hear from organisations that help isolated people in our communities to make friends and socialise in their community, to get them the help they need, when they need it.
The Loneliness Engagement Fund provides small grants between £15,000 and £50,000 to organisations who can engage with target groups at high risk of loneliness. The fund will give out up to £260,000 of grants in total.
The Faith New Deal Pilot Fund is a new, competitive grant programme to help support faith-based organisations to use their resources effectively within their community and to build trust between national government, local government and faith groups.
Applications for £10,000 grants are open. These grants are to help Black and minoritised women’s organisations, led-by-and-for women, which have been impacted by the Coronavirus pandemic, to support women and girls, dealing with the impact of Covid-19.
