Manchester Deaf Centre: 10 Hour Basic British Sign Language (BSL)

This course is purely for fun and our informal sessions will cover sign vocabulary related to everyday life, including:  family, friends, days of the week, numbers, meeting people and greetings. Great for people who are looking for a taster without committing to a fully accredited qualification.

What will I learn?

You will be learning about these topics:

• Fingerspelling
• Meeting and greeting
• Numbers and money
• Days, months and time
• Family and friends

At the end of the course, we will test your knowledge of what you’ve learned in the previous 4 weeks and you will receive your certificate of completion!

Start Date: Friday 25th April 2025
Time: 10:30am to 12:30pm
Duration: 2 hours weekly (5 weeks)

Dates: 25/04, 02/05, 09/05, 16/05 and 23/05

Eligibility Criteria

The funding criteria mean that to be eligible for a place you must be:

  • Aged 19 or over
  • A resident of Manchester (Home postcode: M1, M2, M3 (excluding Salford postcodes), M4, M8, M9, M10, M11, M12, M13, M14, M15, M16 (excluding Trafford postcodes), M18, M19, M20, M21, M22, M23, M40)

Please note:

if you are allocated a course place, we (Manchester Deaf Centre) need to meet with you to complete an adult education enrolment form and to check your proof of address and ID before your place on the course is fully confirmed.
