Join us for 'Unlocking commissioning to unleash Manchester’s Social Economy' a half-day event focused on strengthening collaboration between universities, commissioners, and the social economy in Manchester.
Hosted by Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU) and Manchester Social Economy Alliance (MSEA), this event will bring together stakeholders from across the sector to explore how ethical commissioning and knowledge exchange can support inclusive economic growth and lasting social impact. It’s an opportunity to build stronger relationships, share learning, and unlock new pathways for collaboration.
The event will feature:
- A showcase of MMU’s work supporting the development of Manchester’s social economy
- Insights into student-led research and hands-on project support for local social enterprises
- A focus on the role of social and ethical procurement in commissioning for impact
- A panel discussion featuring commissioners and local social enterprises, highlighting successful commissioning relationships in action
This event is especially valuable for social businesses looking to connect with peers across the sector, engage with potential buyers, better understand commissioning processes, and learn from organisations that have successfully navigated them.
Attendees will also hear the latest research and practical learning from MMU and the Manchester Social Economy Alliance on what’s driving success for social businesses in the city.
This is not a one-off conversation. Following the event, we plan to host a series of smaller, informal gatherings throughout the year to deepen connections, co-develop ideas, and move from conversation to action.
