The Greater Manchester Poverty Action have launched the Greater Manchester Poverty Monitor 2022. The Poverty Monitor reveals the scale of poverty across Greater Manchester and covers ten 
themes: Child poverty, debt, deprivation, educational attainment, fuel and food insecurity, health, homelessness, housing, social security and the labour market.

Groundwork - Green Doctors
Meet James who is 62 years old and from Wythenshawe.
Before being contacted by Groundwork, James was without any heating or hot water. His boiler had packed in, and he wasn’t sure on how he was going to get his boiler fixed. After speaking with a member of the Energyworks Team he managed to get his boiler replaced. He was extremely happy with the help he received, and how efficiently the gas engineers fitted his new boiler.

Manchester Mind: Rent arrears, debt and benefits
We have been supporting Andrea*, a 55-year-old woman with complex needs, who is a carer for her adult son. She was facing eviction from her private rented property due to rent arrears.
We identified that she had recently fallen victim to several financial scams, and advised on how to take measures to protect herself. She was searching for paid employment, so we were also able to provide her with resources and signpost her to nearby job clubs.
Transport for Sick Children – taking children with no other means of transport to hospital and clinic appointments

A helping hand when money is tight
The Carers Manchester Contact Point is here to help busy carers find the support they need. This is often practical or emotional – but more and more, it’s financial. A fast-moving cost of living crisis means our helpline has seen a jump in calls from carers struggling with food, energy, transport and other basic living costs.
Gateway M40 – There’s not enough money

Peer Support Workers (PSWs) within mental health provide support, companionship and encouragement to people experiencing mental health difficulties, drawing upon their own lived experiences, or from caring for others experiencing mental health difficulties.
PSWs use their lived experience to connect with people and help them, by:
This match fund of up to £20,000 per project has been launched by the National Emergencies Trust as part of its Coronavirus Appeal. It offers support to voluntary and community organisations in 
the UK by helping them to counter financial challenges created by the pandemic, including the inability to fundraise in the usual ways, reductions in staff and volunteers, and increased demand on their services.
