Manchester City Council update - The new Manchester Housing Allocation Scheme

This latest Manchester City Council update shared information on the review of the Manchester Housing Allocation Scheme.

The Manchester Housing Allocation Scheme sets out the principles and rules by which people apply for social housing, including who qualifies to join the housing register and how the council prioritises who gets a home.

Manchester’s housing situation has changed significantly since 2011. There has been a significant rise in homelessness and the associated cost of the rising number of households in temporary and supported accommodation is unsustainable.

Voice4Change England Covid-19 Partnership Fund

This grants programme is designed to help tackle the disproportionate impact of Covid-19 on BAME communities.

At last year’s AGM the focus was on the next stage of developing our campaign to fight for access to justice for our communities across Greater Manchester.  We celebrated the progress that the Law Centre had made and looked forward to expanding our work.

The general election provided opportunities to expand access to justice and to reverse the cuts to legal aid and we highlighted that we had secured funding to develop our advice offer and looked to expand these across Greater Manchester in partnership with others.

ivarInstitute for Voluntary Action Research are running online peer support sessions for leaders of charities, community organisations and social enterprises. Over 300 people from across the UK have taken part so far. Their organisations are active in 17 fields including the arts, criminal justice, education, equality, infrastructure and migration.

Covid-19 Response Capacity Building Project

There has been an unprecedented change in the landscape for the charitable and voluntary sector, in particular, the impact that Covid-19 has had on BAME communities and the organisations that serve them. Relaunch of the health and wellbeing alliance: call for refreshed membership

Charities are being urged to join the voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) Health and Wellbeing Alliance, following its relaunch on 15 August, to ensure the lived experiences of the people they represent are reflected in the development of health policy.

The Health and Wellbeing Alliance is a key element of the Health and Wellbeing Programme, the aim of which is to promote health equalities and reduce health inequalities across the UK.

Heritage Compass: Free mentoring and training available for English heritage organisations
