Recruiting volunteers with a criminal history survey

In April 2019 Bolton CVS launched the Giving Back in Bolton Project which aims to make it easier for people with a criminal record get into volunteering. By completing this survey, you will be helping Bolton CVS to pull together best practice guidance for the voluntary sector of Bolton and beyond. This will help them to improve the recruitment, management and support of volunteers with criminal records, and so help people come back into the community.

My Future Open Day – The Manchester College, Administration Positions

My FutureThe Manchester College are holding an Open Day on 5 November, 10am-2pm to recruit for Administration Positions in the Manchester area. This is aimed at young NEET, Manchester Residents. Those who are successful at the open day will be invited to attend a 4 week unpaid pre recruitment programme, which will then lead on to paid work experience and those who are not will be followed up and invited to attend the next round of recruitment.

Distance Learning with Wigan and Leigh College

Wigan and Leigh College have a range of free distance learning courses available particularly around the Health and Wellbeing sector such as Understanding Autism, Principles of dementia, Awareness of mental health problems and Principles of Team leading. 

The courses can increase confidence when dealing with difficult situations and learn more about issues which are around everyday.

Courses are free to everyone aged 24+ and can be completed over a 12 week period.

At the college there are assessors on hand to support either over the phone or through e-mail.

The Older People's Neighbourhood Support (OPeNS) Fund – Now open for applications

The Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS) is a key partner in the delivery of Manchester’s Population Health Plan. This is the city’s overarching plan for reducing health inequalities and improving health outcomes for our residents. The Plan has five priorities, including the priority to create an age-friendly city that promotes good health and wellbeing for people in mid and later life.

Funding is available for projects that aim to increase the health and wellbeing of older people in each of the 12 neighbourhoods of Manchester.

Spare the air - "School children, teachers and Whalley Range Climate Action Group plan a "car idling and parking" ticket scheme to promote clean air

Today members of the Clean Air and Healthy Streets subgroup of the Whalley Range Climate Action Group met to plan further awareness-raising activities with schools in Whalley Range. The climate action group is an informal network of around 40 local people, currently building-on the success of Clean Air Day in June, which saw a road outside of a Whalley Range school closed to vehicles.
