Greater Manchester’s first Bee Network ‘parklet’ and ‘pocket park’ has launched on Bridgefield Street in Stockport. Dozens of parklets and pocket parks could be delivered throughout Greater Manchester as part of the Bee Network.

A parklet is a mini-park - usually the size of one or two car parking bays - that is typically installed on-street featuring seating, greenery and cycle parking. A pocket park is a small park-like space that enhances a variety of street types and can incorporate seating, planting, play and street gym equipment.

Positive Ageing Imagery Project

The Greater Manchester Older People’s Network (GMOPN) are excited to be launching a new Positive Ageing Imagery Project. The project will be looking at why stereotypical images of wrinkly hands that reinforce negativity around ageing are used in the media to represent older people. We want to replace these images with more positive ones that celebrate older people and ageing. Helen Morris, who will be volunteering with the GMOPN over the coming months, will be facilitating this project and is looking for older people who are interested in getting involved.
