As momentum gathers around integrated health and social care and children’s health and wellbeing, there are various calls for evidence around the voice of children and young people.

42nd Street with Youth Focus NW and Young Minds are aware of an awful lot of great work that has taken place over recent years to capture this voice and they are trying to gather this into one place and make some central sense of it to inform, amongst other things the GM commissioning framework for CAMHS and a broader charter around children and young people’s health and social care.

State of Caring 2017 Report - One in four unpaid carers “have not had a day off” in five years

This latest Carers UK report has found that carers are reaching ‘breaking point’ as they struggle to take even a day away from care responsibilities for years at a time. One in ten (40%) of unpaid carers have not had a break in over one year, whilst one in four (25%) had not received a single day away from caring in five years.

2017 Clinks State of the Sector survey report

Clinks is a national charity that supports, represents and campaigns for the voluntary sector working with offenders. They have published their 2017 State of the Sector report following a survey of voluntary sector organisations to collect information about how healthy the sector is, the role it is playing, and the wellbeing of service users.Clinks found that "During a year of political instability, voluntary organisations continue to support the most vulnerable people despite a shifting funding landscape and increasing and changing service user needs.

Voluntary Sector Assembly - 18 July 2017

Mike Wild, Macc Chief Executive, presented the facts and figures from the recent State of the Sector report and explained what this meant for VCSE organisations in Manchester. The research was undertaken by the Centre for Regional Economic and Social Research (CRESR) at Sheffield Hallam University working collaboratively with Macc and our 10GM partners plus GMCVO and Stockport Council.

Grant to address Female Genital Mutilation in the Community

As part of its continued commitment to reducing and ultimately preventing Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) Manchester City Council is aiming to provide investment in 2017/18 through the Directorate for Children and Families to Voluntary, Community Sector, not for profit and faith sector organisations to further address this issue.
