Grants Programme for Manchester’s Voluntary and Community Sector

There will be a fund of £550k from the three Manchester Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) available soon to Manchester’s VCS. The main aim of the programme of work will be to reduce social isolation and loneliness for people over 50yrs old in Manchester.

The programme will also aim to build greater understanding of how the Manchester CCGs can work with VCS organisations to improve health and wellbeing outcomes for Manchester residents over the age of 50yrs.

International Women's Day - launch of grant applications

Manchester’s chosen theme for International Women’s Day 2014 is ‘Women as Peacemakers’. Coinciding with the 100th anniversary of the start of the First World War, International Women’s Day 2014 is the perfect opportunity to celebrate the role that women have played and continue to play in conflict resolution and peace building. There will be grants of up to £500 to create IWD events and activities in March 2014, and groups are invited to apply.

Singing for Pleasure

Manchester Community Choir has over 100 members and has been performing since 1999. Their repertoire includes songs from all parts of the world, both modern and traditional.

The Choir appear regularly at events in Manchester and further afield, including the annual Street Choirs Festival.

Their songs are about equality, peace and respect.

The Choir sing for pleasure, well-being and friendship and enjoy supporting good causes through their singing.

Unit 16 – a temporary shop for all the community

What would you do with a shop on Cheetham Hill Shopping Centre?

From September, Buddleia has taken over Unit 16 in Cheetham Hill Shopping Centre as a creative community shop.

Do you have an idea about how to use the shop?

Unit 16 will be an open space for the local community to:
• Try out new business ideas
• Launch new initiatives
• Host community meetings or events
• Share information
• Participate in workshops and training

The space is available to rent for 1 -4 days at a very low daily rate. Bookings are available until February 2014.

Be Proud Awards 2013

The Prince’s Trust Team Programme – Community Project

The Prince’s Trust Team Programme based at The Manchester College’s Fallowfield site is currently looking for worthwhile projects in the community for its students to complete.

Perhaps there’s a local youth club or community centre in need of refurbishment or an area of land or community garden that could do with a makeover.

Match funding for community projects – get your applications in now for festive activities

Community First funding is available in several wards across Manchester. You can apply for £250- £2500. Decisions are made by a local panel. Each panel has set local priorities for their area.
