GM International Day of Older Persons 2022 campaign - ‘She Will Be Heard - celebrating older women's resilience and contributions’

On 14 December 1990, the United Nations General Assembly designated October 1 as the United Nations’ International Day of Older Persons (IDOP) (resolution 45/106). This was preceded by initiatives such as the Vienna International Plan of Action on Ageing, which was adopted by the 1982 World Assembly on Ageing and endorsed later that year by the UN General Assembly.

Statement on Panorama: Undercover Hospital

Last night BBC’s Panorama aired their undercover investigation into the treatment of patients at the Edenfield Secure Mental Health Centre and we know this will have brought up painful memories and impacted people who have experienced these kinds of services, people who have supported their loved ones and for professionals that work hard to support vulnerable people with mental health issues. It was hard for us all to watch.

A new Government Energy Bill Relief Scheme will provide a discount on the wholesale price of gas and electricity. This support will be equivalent to the Energy Price Guarantee put in place for energy bill relief schemehouseholds.
