gmhcscpCarers from Ethnic minorities may have different needs, issues and requirements from other populations, they are often overlooked in research and often do not access statutory services until they hit crisis point.

GM Mental Wellbeing Grants

GMCVO, working in partnership with 10GM, have launched a grants programme to support people from communities of identity or experience, based in Greater Manchester that may struggle to achieve higher levels of mental wellbeing.

The communities we want to reach are:

MRSN Elder Refugee Scheme

MRSNThis is a brand new scheme for Elders from Refugee Communities. This scheme is designed to reduce social isolation, increase integration experiences and community connections and promote better overall health and wellness. Manchester Refugee Support Network (MRSN) will also be able to provide you with information about services for elderly people.

Caribbean and African Health Network Bereavement Service

CAHNThe Caribbean and African Health Network (CAHN) Bereavement Service offers the Caribbean and African community living in Greater Manchester (GM) a culturally and religiously tailored support for those grieving or mourning the loss of loved ones. This would be at no costs to GM residents but at a fee to people living outside greater Manchester. CAHN will be taking referrals from their statutory partners and VCSE organisations.

CAHNThe Caribbean and African Health Network (CAHN) have launched a number of online activities via Zoom in response to community’s requests.
 
Healthy Hearts – Physical activity, nutrition and medication: Tuesdays, 1pm-2pm

Single Mothers Peer Support Group: Thursdays, 11am-12pm

Afrobeats and Reggae Bash: Fridays, 8pm-10pm

Health Hour: Saturdays, 11am-12pm

Covid-19: mitigating impacts on Gypsy and Traveller communities

gov.ukLord Greenhalgh, Communities Minister, has written to local authority chief executives to highlight that some members of Gypsy and Traveller communities are likely to be particularly vulnerable to COVID-19, and may need support in accessing basic facilities such as water, sanitation and waste disposal, to enable them to adhere to public health guidelines around self-isolation and social distancing during the outbreak.

CAHNCaribbean and African Health Network (CAHN) are conducting this anonymised 2-minute survey which will help them to collate the adverse impact on the Caribbean and African community in Greater Manchester.
