The Manchester Safeguarding Boards (MSB) comprises the Manchester Safeguarding Adults Board (MSAB) and the Manchester Safeguarding Children Boards (MSCB). The Boards share an Independent Chair, Julia Stephens-Row; and are supported by the MSB Business Unit. 
Police, local authorities, Greater Manchester Combined Authority, young people and an MP have launched a campaign to stop criminal gangs from grooming children and vulnerable adults to commit crime.
The campaign, known as ‘Trapped’, aims to raise awareness of criminals who are grooming and exploiting children and young adults to commit crime on their behalf.
Offenders take victims from urban areas to the countryside or coastal areas to sell drugs. Sometimes victims are trafficked closer to home, and are moved around Greater Manchester.
Greater Manchester is currently assessing the use of their online multi agency Greater Manchester Safeguarding Children Procedures which the Manchester Safeguarding Children’s Board adopts.

The Sylvia Adams Charitable Trust is looking to support work which will improve the life chances for some of the most disadvantaged children in England and Wales by investing in early intervention and preventative work. The Trust is looking to support work with targeted groups of 0-3 year olds in England and Wales which will specifically improve the reach to these targeted groups and bring about improved defined outcomes for these targeted groups.
Manchester is one of the local authority only areas in the country served by one local authority but with two separate Home-Start schemes. Both schemes' Trustees and Scheme Managers have been meeting for some time to evaluate the pros and cons of becoming one Manchester organisation. Home-Start Manchester has concluded that a merger of both schemes will create a stronger; more efficient and effective service for families, volunteers, referring and wider partner agencies.
The purpose of this fund is Youth and Play, delivered by neighbourhood and city wide voluntary and community sector (VCS) partners to ensure children and young people aged 5-19 (up to 25 for care leavers and those with additional needs) have sufficient good quality access to Youth and Play services in their local areas and where the needs are greatest.

As in previous years, the need to find families for some of our most vulnerable children remains at the heart of this year’s National Adoption Week. This year focuses on the need to find the right adopters for sibling groups. 
Nationally 61% of children waiting for Adoption are in sibling groups and right here in the Northwest it’s higher still at 64%.
The issues surrounding the health, welfare and safeguarding of Manchester's children are never far from the headlines. We all have responsibility for ensuring children are safe, and to know what help and support is available.
Monday 16 October marks the start of this year’s National Adoption Week. Outstanding Independent Adoption Agency Caritas Care is looking for families in the Lancashire and Greater Manchester areas for children who wait longer to find their forever home. They are particularly keen to speak to people who would consider adoption for children who: 
• Are over 4 years of age
• Are in a sibling group of 2,3…or 4
• Are from the BAME community
The See More, Learn More, Go Further Project is a Greater Manchester initiative led by the NHS aimed at encouraging children to have regular eye sight tests as currently only 1 in 5 children have had their eyes tested.
