Monday 22 July 2019 marks 100 years (to the day) of the formation of Manchester and Salford Council of Social Service. Macc, Salford CVS and Gaddum have worked together to mark the occasion with a celebratory event at the People’s History Museum. We felt it is important to mark 100 years of social action across the twin cities of Salford and Manchester.
TLC-St Luke’s works with those experiencing a mental health diagnosis or problems. TLC-St Luke’s think that reducing isolation is key – how? Engagement, connection, creativity and sharing – one participant nick-named it “Creation Lounge”. 
The Health and Social Care Secretary has announced that £1.9 million will be given to councils by Public Health England to help improve the health of rough sleepers. The funding will be awarded to projects that improve access to health services and continuity of care for people with mental ill-health and substance misuse problems who are sleeping rough or at risk of returning to rough sleeping. 
Manchester Health and Care Commissioning (MHCC) have announced that they are investing over £300,000 into the voluntary and education sector for the delivery of the THRIVE grants programme. 
Hosted by the Mental Health Foundation, Mental Health Awareness Week 2019 will take place from Monday 13 to Sunday 19 May 2019. The theme for 2019 is Body Image – how we think and feel about our bodies.

Breathworks is dedicated to helping people with pain, stress and ill-health live active and rewarding lives. As a national leader in mindfulness training, Breathworks have been running programmes for individuals, companies and public sector bodies since 2001. 
Breathworks are now at a very exciting juncture in the development of their organisation and have undergone a recent re-structure to best fulfill their vision.
Recently I had a very nice letter inviting me to write for a publication (quite high status) and a follow-up phone conversation to explore further. In the course of this, the London-based publisher emphasised that wanting to reach outside their heavily London-focused circle was a big priority for them. A Steering Group of service user and carers was formed and has been working behind the scenes and meeting regularly to agree a governance structure of a Chair and Vice Chair with 1 representative from each of the 10 boroughs which is known as the CORE group of members.
