Manchester Metropolitan University Social Science Graduates Networking Event – 16 October

Representatives of voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations are invited to join Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU) and their Graduate Career Team for an event on Friday 16 October.

This event offers an opportunity for people working for VCSEs to discuss their organisation and current or future opportunities they may have available with potential volunteers or staff recruits who have recently graduated in a social science subject.

The event will take place from 11:00am – 4:00pm at the MMU Campus in their Dalton Building, Chester Street, Manchester, M1 5GD

Please see below the proposed timetable.

Time Activity
11:00 - 11:30 Introduction to the event
11:30 - 13:00 Employer Insight presentations (approx. 20 minutes per employer, with short breaks in between)
13:00 - 14:00 Lunch, with stands from Further Study, Careers, Enterprise, etc.
14:00 - 16:00 Employer roundtable networking discussions (8 tables) (Graduates rotating every 20 mins)

Attendees will be invited to:

  • Introduce their organisation
  • Discuss career pathways and routes into the sector
  • Detail current and future opportunities
  • Speak about the skills and attributes valued in applicants to specific roles

There is no expectation that attendees will have a presentation prepared, although you are welcome to share one which covers the above topic areas if you should wish to!

The roundtable networking discussions will feature more informal conversations with smaller groups of graduates and will require less preparation.

If you are interested in attending, please contact Katie Flett (k.flett@mmu.ac.uk) for further information.
